The roof material is weird - in some photos it's got more of a matte finish like wooden shakes, while in others it's pretty glossy like a glazed terra cotta. Not much to show here yet, but I have modeled two of the four and the textures are mostly done on the first one. In real life, it looks like they just used concrete, and it's starting to crumble and fall off and it generally looks awful.Īfter I finish that one, I'm going to do a pack of historic water towers from Minneapolis and St.

I also made the decision to continue the polished granite at the base of the building all the way up the tower.

I'm actually not completely sure about the parking ramp, since now I'm going to have to source a bunch of low poly cars, but I do think it makes the building more unique. I've kept most of these inconsistencies in because they give the building character, but I've also taken a bunch of creative liberties, such as by expanding the parking ramp at the back of the building. It's a pretty standard building at first glance, but when modeling it I found a lot of weird inconsistencies with the design that make me think the firm who designed it was in some sort of hurry.

I don't know the name of it, but it's located at 118 Connaught Road West in Hong Kong. I do intend to finish some of them (namely the first one, which is in Minneapolis and has been on my to-do list for years), but one thing at a time! After I finished IDS, I really didn't have any works in progress (aside from some old ones that I'll probably wind up restarting), so I fell into the trap of starting way too many new projects, hence my silence.
